1981 Ironhead Sportster Bobber
Thank God There's Harleys... So, let's show them!
Our friend "Boomer" from Clarkston, Michigan, United States made available these pictures of his awesome 1981 Sportster Bobber which has a 79 ci Stroker Ironhead engine in a Paughco hardtail frame.
Boomer: "I built this bike to take to Daytona. It rode great (it is fast as hell), got featured in a magazine and it was a lot of fun. But the plan always was to sell it when I got back home. I hadn't been in Daytona in a few years so I thought it would be a blast to build a little hotrod for this years trip.
It is based on a Paughco rigid frame. The engine is a built and stroked Ironhead (now is 79 cubic inches). I found a set of vintage mags (both front rims) and mounted some board track tires for a fat tire look. The rest of the bike is the bare minumum - only things that make it go or make it stop."

Front Brakes Setup
Boomer: "I particularly like the front brake setup on this bike. I used a stock control mounted under the triple tree to run the twin front calipers. The control is linked to a brake lever on the handle bars via a cable. This allows for a very clean set of bars (sort of a BMX look) while maintaining the functionality of front hydraulic brakes.
This bike needs those brakes too!"
Paughco Hardtail Frame Details
Here's some pics showing the Paughco hardtail frame in a bit more detail.
The rigid Paughco frame has very clean oldschool looks.
Actually, this 1981 Ironhead Sportster Custom Bobber is currently for sale.
