1973 Sportster Hardtail Chopper
Jason from Holland, Michigan, United States sent us these photographs of his 1973 Sportster Ironhead Hardtail Chopper which has a 12 inch over Duck springer fork and a weld-on hardtail subframe by Sporty Specialties.
Jason: "Its a 1973 XLH, My brother bought it 14 years ago from the original owner who 6 months after buying chopped it, now I have it. I put the hardtail, new fuel and oil tanks, fender, and the 21" front spool wheel on it. I cleaned up the frame a little but its got the same rake and stretch job, as well as the springer fork that was on it."
"Its just about ready for the road, should be done in the next couple weeks."
Jason: "The springer is a 70's 12" over Duck springer fork (I'm pretty sure they don't make anymore of these. I can't find any info on the web)
Jason: "The hardtail is a weld on section from Sporty Specialties. The fuel tank is a chopper tank off my brothers Honda chopper
(I've seen similar tanks you can buy new out of catalogues)
The oil tank I found on Ebay. The spool wheel I found on Craigslist. The saddle is 10 gauge steel plate that has been rolled, sanded and cleared."
Jason: "I will send along a pic of it when I first started on it,
the cardboard pattern is what i was going to build for the fuel tank but it didn't look right on the bike when I got it all made out of steel.
I'll send some more pics when its complete, I hope its a nice addition to your web site."
Thank you, Jason! We look forward to seeing the next bunch of photographs!
