1982 Ironhead Sportster Bobber
Francois from France sent us these pictures of his latest creation which is a Harley bobber on the basis of a 1982 Sportster Ironhead engine in a rigid frame. She's got a suicide shift and clutch, white wall tires, and a rawhide paint job. And NO turn signals. Except maybe for the mirror, buddy seat, buddy pegs and the horn, everything about this rebuilt Harley Davidson Sportster breathes hardcore bobber style.
For reasons of safety - after all, French car drivers are dangerous creatures - this Sportster bobber has a drum brake at the rear and dual disc brakes at the front...
Those gangster tires look real neat! The wrapped exhaust system was built
by Francois himself, like so many things on this hardcore bobber.
The Sportster frame was made rigid and lowered by replacing the
rear shocks by fixed steel bars which Francois has neatly obscured from view
so they don't poke you in the eye.
The slick looks of that shining
Rivera SU Eliminator II carburator
and those polished aluminium rocker boxes are amplified by the rawhide brown paint job.
The chrome nuts and bolts are the icing on the cake.
By the way, Francois split those Ironhead rocker boxes himself.
Here's the result of love and passion.
Francois completely overhauled the Ironhead engine, including the crankshaft, flywheels and push rods,
the pistons, the rocker boxes, etc. etc.
Straight Bobber or Custom Bobber?
To us, any Bobber is either a Straight Bobber or a Custom Bobber.
